Proton Saga: A Benchmark of Reliability and Performance with Local Manufacturing
The Proton Saga is one of the most popular models in its category, delivering an exceptional driving experience with advanced technology, comprehensive comfort features, and outstanding performance suited for both urban and highway driving.
The vehicle is powered by an economical 1.3L, 4-cylinder engine producing 94 hp and 120 Nm of torque, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission that ensures smooth handling and responsive driving in various conditions. This combination enhances driving stability and fuel efficiency, making it an ideal choice for daily commuting and city travel.
Safety is a top priority for the Proton Saga, featuring an advanced braking system that includes Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA) for enhanced stability and control. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a rearview camera, parking sensors, and a reinforced body structure that provides superior protection for passengers, alongside dual airbags for added safety.
The Saga also boasts a modern exterior design, 15-inch alloy wheels for improved performance and stability, halogen headlights with LED daytime running lights, and tinted side and rear windows for enhanced privacy and sun protection. A rear spoiler further enhances its sporty look and aerodynamic efficiency.
On the inside, the vehicle is equipped with an array of technological and comfort features, including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with USB ports at the front and rear, a multifunction steering wheel, LED interior lighting for a premium cabin feel, and a spacious 420-liter trunk, making it ideal for families and practical use.
To ensure top-notch quality and durability, the Proton Saga has undergone rigorous 60,000-kilometer endurance testing over two consecutive months under varying driving conditions, including highways and rough terrains. These tests were conducted under the supervision of Proton Malaysia’s quality and technical support team, further proving the car’s reliability in different environments and climates.
Al-Arab Al-Suwaidi Automotive Complex: A Leap Towards the Future
The Al-Arab Al-Suwaidi Automotive Manufacturing Complex (ESAF) stands as one of Egypt’s most ambitious industrial projects, with an investment of $50 million, spanning 70,000 square meters, and an annual production capacity of 40,000 vehicles, with plans for further expansion.
The facility incorporates a high percentage of locally sourced components, reinforcing the value of Egyptian manufacturing and positioning Egypt as a regional hub for automotive production. Future plans also include exporting vehicles to several African and international markets.
Furthermore, the factory contributes to Egypt’s economic growth by creating new job opportunities and adopting advanced production technologies, with a long-term vision to expand into electric vehicle (EV) production and their components, aligning with global sustainability and clean energy trends.
In this context, Eng. Samah Ali, COO of ESAF, stated:

For this reason, we are targeting the production of 5,000 Proton Saga CKD units in 2025, aligning with our long-term vision to make exports a key pillar of our growth strategy.
At Proton, success is not merely measured by sales figures but by building long-term relationships, delivering products and services that earn our customers’ trust, and investing in the future with expansion plans that include electric vehicles and new models catering to market demands.
We are excited for the next phase and look forward to achieving even greater success with our partners in Egypt.”
