Ericsson and e& Egypt Extend Partnership to Enhance Core Network and Accelerate 5G Readiness

Ericsson and e& Egypt have strengthened their long-standing partnership

by signing a comprehensive four-year agreement aimed at modernizing and

expanding e& Egypt’s core network infrastructure and IT systems This strategic

collaboration focuses on accelerating the adoption of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) and

advancing 5G network readiness through a cloud-native transformation program

Long-Term Partnership to Enhance Egypt’s Telecommunication Network

Building on years of successful cooperation, Ericsson and e& Egypt will collaborate

to upgrade core network applications and expand network infrastructure This modernization

is designed to enrich communication services across Egypt and improve user experience by

supporting the rollout of new services and accelerating the adoption of next-generation

technologies like VoLTE and 5G

Core Network Modernization and IT System Upgrades

The agreement outlines significant enhancements to e& Egypt’s data management

capabilities, including the migration from the legacy Unified Data Consolidation (UDC)

system to the cloud-native Unified Data Management (UDM) platform Additionally, key

core network applications such as the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) will be upgraded to

provide enriched communication services

Further improvements include the deployment of Ericsson Dynamic Activation (EDA)

and the Service-Aware Policy Controller (SAPC) to streamline operational processes and

optimize Quality of Service (QoS) for end-users

Cloud-Native Infrastructure and Advanced Billing Solutions

Ericsson will also modernize e& Egypt’s network infrastructure by deploying Cloud Native

Infrastructure Solution (CNIS) and Network Functions Virtualization Infrastructure (NFVI)

to support a more agile and scalable network architecture

The agreement extends to upgrading Ericsson’s billing, mediation, and charging systems

incorporating the Charging Access Function (CAF) These enhancements will boost e& Egypt’s

operational capabilities in the 5G era, enabling new business opportunities and competitive marketing strategies

Accelerating 5G Readiness and Emerging Use Cases

The technology upgrades under this agreement will optimize network operations and

service delivery, facilitating the monetization of emerging use cases such as 5G and the

Internet of Things (IoT) By accelerating the cloud-native transformation, e& Egypt aims

to deliver superior network performance and future-proof its infrastructure
