FDC Summit 2025 Launches in Ghana to Drive Africa’s Digital Economy Growth

the FDC Summit has announced the launch of its first regional edition in Accra, Ghana

scheduled for November 26–27 This event is organized in collaboration with the Africa

Center for Digital Transformation (ACDT), highlighting Ghana’s growing role as a key hub

for digital innovation, cybersecurity, and digital inclusion in Africa

The selection of Accra as the host city reflects its strategic geographic position linking

West Africa to the broader continent, as well as Ghana’s forward-thinking national digital

policies Ghana’s commitment to embedding cybersecurity and digital inclusion in its development

agenda is bolstered by hosting the Africa Center for Digital Transformation, a leading think tank

dedicated to research and policy formulation in digital matters

FDC Summit Chairman Highlights Africa’s Digital Economy Growth

Eng Tarek Shabaka, Chairman of the Advisory Board of the FDC Summit, emphasized the

continent’s pivotal moment in digital transformation “Africa stands at a critical digital crossroads

Current projections suggest that the African digital economy could represent more than 5% of the

continent’s GDP within the next two years—an achievement unimaginable a decade ago

He further stated”Accra exemplifies an African government that views digitalization as essential for

development, not just a luxury We anticipate that the FDC Summit in Ghana will become a vital

platform that transforms this vision into effective policies, positioning Africa at the forefront of

global technological discourse

Kwesi Atuahena, President of the Africa Center for Digital Transformation, described the event

as more than a regional conference”Hosting the first edition of the FDC Summit in Accra signals

aims to bridge the digital divide that limits millions from fully engaging in the digital economy

He added”This summit will empower Africa to lead rather than follow, crafting a uniquely African

According to the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Africa’s digital economy is projected

to reach approximately USD 180 billion by the end of 2025, accounting for over 5% of the

continent’s GDP This growth presents significant opportunities for over 600,000 registered

companies and more than 40 million small enterprises to benefit from digital transformation

The digital economy’s potential to multiply in the coming years offers a promising outlook for

inclusive economic development across Africa
