Ericsson has once again secured the top position in the “Frost Radar™: 5G Network Infrastructure, 2025” report by Frost & Sullivan, marking the fifth consecutive year of this prestigious recognition. The ranking reflects the company’s sustained leadership and commitment to innovation in 5G technologies, as well as its ability to meet the evolving demands of communications service providers (CSPs) and enterprises across more than 175 countries.

Frost Radar Highlights Ericsson’s Strength in 5G Innovation

The Frost Radar analysis independently evaluated over 100 global players, spotlighting the top 23 companies that are shaping the future of 5G network infrastructure. According to the report, Ericsson’s end-to-end 5G portfolio—spanning traditional RAN, Open RAN, virtual RAN, core, edge, and private networks—positions the company as a market-shaping force.

The report further notes Ericsson’s proactive move toward Open RAN, emphasizing that its collaboration with large, influential CSPs will help accelerate industry-wide adoption. This aligns with market trends pushing for open, flexible, and interoperable network solutions.

AI and Automation Empower Ericsson’s Network Leadership

Ericsson’s application of artificial intelligence (AI) and intent-driven automation in its network infrastructure is another standout feature highlighted in the report. These technologies enhance network programmability, improve operational efficiency, and support CSPs in building autonomous, programmable networks.

> “Our leadership in the Frost Radar reflects our customer-centric innovation and investment in next-gen mobile technologies,” said Per Narvinger, EVP and Head of Business Area Networks at Ericsson.

Sustained Growth Through Strategic Investment and Acquisitions

Ericsson’s dominance in the 5G telecom infrastructure market is not by chance. The company allocated 21.6% of its revenue to R&D in 2024, a testament to its long-term commitment to staying ahead in an ever-evolving industry.

Strategic acquisitions such as Cradlepoint (2020) and Vonage (2022) have expanded Ericsson’s enterprise footprint, complementing its robust CSP ecosystem.

According to Troy Morley, Senior Industry Analyst at Frost & Sullivan:

> “Ericsson has consistently outperformed both traditional competitors and new market entrants. Their ability to evolve their portfolio while maintaining financial stability has ensured their continued leadership.”

Private 5G, Energy Efficiency, and Sustainable Innovation

Frost & Sullivan identifies private 4G and 5G networks as high-growth areas where Ericsson is poised to lead, thanks to its strong partnerships with CSPs and industries. Additionally, Ericsson has prioritized energy efficiency by designing compact, lightweight, and power-efficient hardware, alongside software that optimizes network performance—contributing to global sustainability goals.
