Orange Egypt Launches 5G Services to Power Egypt’s Digital Future

First phase targets high-traffic areas nationwide in collaboration with NTRA
In a significant leap towards digital transformation, Orange Egypt has officially launched 5G services in Egypt, marking a major milestone in the country’s telecom landscape. This strategic move comes after completing all technical and operational preparations, and demonstrates the company’s commitment to delivering high-speed internet and cutting-edge connectivity for Egyptian users.
5G Coverage Begins in High-Demand Areas Across Governorates
The first rollout phase will cover densely populated, high-traffic zones across Egypt’s governorates, with plans for gradual nationwide expansion. Orange Egypt is working in close coordination with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to ensure compliance with global quality standards and seamless service deployment.
Faster Speeds and Greater Capacity for a Connected Lifestyle
The newly launched 5G technology offers significantly higher upload and download speeds than 4G, in addition to a much greater capacity to handle numerous devices and users simultaneously without sacrificing performance. These features are crucial for users at home, in businesses, or on the move—where uninterrupted, high-performance connectivity is essential.
Supporting Egypt’s Growing Digital Demands
The launch of 5G in Egypt aligns with the country’s rising demand for reliable internet, driven by the surge in remote work, online education, streaming services, and real-time video communication. 5G is seen as a key enabler of next-generation digital applications and services, powering everything from ultra-HD video calls and immersive online gaming to AI integration and the development of smart cities.
Orange Egypt Reinforces Commitment to Innovation and Growth
Dr. Ayman Amiri, Chief Technology and Information Officer at Orange Egypt, commented on the launch:
> “The introduction of 5G services marks a turning point in Egypt’s digital journey. It’s a reflection of our ongoing efforts to offer our customers the most advanced and reliable technologies. This will enhance lives, support national development, and empower sectors reliant on a strong digital infrastructure.”
He further emphasized Orange Egypt’s sustained investments in network development and innovation to strengthen its role as a regional leader in telecom and digital services.
Long-Term Vision: A Sustainable and Digitally Empowered Egypt
The launch follows Orange Egypt’s acquisition of a 15-year license to operate 5G services in October 2024, highlighting the company’s long-term dedication to supporting Egypt’s digital infrastructure. This step forms a critical component of Orange Egypt’s strategic vision to drive telecom innovation, support digital inclusion, and build a sustainable connected future.
